Poem by Shyama prasad Laha

Green Desire
Every moment I receive
The shadow of stone
But I would like to dig
My planted trees pray for me.
Barren land is ready to kill thee
Yet I have more saplings to plant
Rains have set in; soft is greyland
Light is coming; birds are twittering
I listen only the song of jungle with glee
I collect wild flowers full of water-
Lily
I kiss the leaves of mahuya virgin red
I smell the saucy land beside a river
Bed
One morning I will be the peon of forest
I will then deliver a leave letter to
arrest.
O my forest arrest me also
My desire is green for so.
